 Overthinking is a very common problem, it occurs in most people and the person who suffers from it doesn't have proper knowledge about it. They think that overthinking and taking too much stress is in their nature, they cannot change this.

The persons who have been suffering from overthinking disorder says that their mind never calms down they get negative thoughts one after the another continuously. They fear that something bad is going to happen or something dangerous will happen from which they start to get stress. Mostly the negative thoughts are about the negative future predictions. During overthinking excessive thoughts come to mind which become tougher to handle and most of them are useless thoughts. This patient gets extreme worried and he starts to stress about things that might even never happen in future.

Why do we overthink?

Due to advancement in science, various neurotransmitter has discovered and one of the neurotransmitters is serotonin. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that helps to keep the mind Calm. If it levels decreases then the chance of overthinking and getting anxiety increases overall due to some chemical imbalance in brain overthinking can occur in us. One more thing is said that if your upbringing and development since childhood is done in the overprotected environment then it cause you to overthink because then you will think that everything is dangerous it will be to too hard for you to handle a little bit stressful also. 

Another theory of overthinking is that cognitive theory, the cognitive theory says that when a person overestimates a dangerous situation and it results then it can cause overthinking. Let's understand this by taking an example, Imagine a girl is working in an office who needs leave for a day but she fears to ask her boss, she overthinks that If she will ask her boss then her boss might insult him or he might fired her. Well chanced of happening this is very low but she is an overthinker and due to which she refused to ask her boss. This thing will get fixed in her brain and next time also she will try to avoid a situation like this which is a bad thing but in case if she had asked her boss then her boss might have given her leave but overestimate the situation and its results.

Today's big problem is that more than 85% people mind is a monkey mind. Just like a monkey who jumps from one place to another our thoughts also jumps from one place to another continuously. Our brain is slowly going out of Control and the saddest part is we think it's normal because now the day's majority of people do overthink and stay under stress. It has become so common that its look normal but it's not.

Many times overthinking become like an addiction. You will even accept that you are an overthinker but then also you will not be able to control it.

We all want something in our life and this "want" creates a hole in our life that Keep on growing. Our ego commands us to the wrong path and causes overthinking. A person asked Gautam Buddha that "I want happiness?". Gautam Buddha replied to him to first remove "I" because it shows ego and then remove "want" because it shows desire and after removing both you will be left with happiness.


Outer purpose vs inner purpose 

Whatever goals and desires you want to complete are outer purpose which focuses on future. If your future desire becomes more important than the steps you need to take to reach that desire then it will affect your inner purpose journey. When you start to complete your inner purpose then you will be able to reach outer purpose without doing overthinking.


Past and pain

Overthinking about the future always creates a problem but the past also makes us overthink. Tony Robbins says that "Nothing is more powerful than a deeply rooted soul with the present". Thinking about the future and past is of no use until you live in present.

Do new things

Whenever we do new things,  we give them our full attention and focus. This thing also helps to stay in present and you also know that staying in present is the most powerful thing to stop overthinking. There is a quote "Being present at the moment is the greatest present you can give yourself". Doing new things will also keep you busy so your mind will not get distracted by negative thoughts. You can practice new skills and acquire some hobbies that will also help you in future.


Say it out

Expressing your thoughts to your closed ones is better than overthinking. By sharing our thoughts we can take others opinion also and can implement them in our life. During overthinking many thoughts gets jumbled in our mind due to which our capability to identify good or bad decision decreases.  We start to fall in the trap of overthinking without being aware of it. Overthinking makes us stress to lower it's the effect we should express our thoughts with others. Most people keep thinking about a same thing and talk to anybody about it from the outside they look calm but from deep inside they struggle with their thoughts. So next time when you feel like overthinking try to expressing your thoughts with others instead of crying alone.


Write it Down

When you feel that your brain is going to get filled with negative thoughts try to Transfer that bad thought from your mind to paper with the help of your hands. If you have no one to talk and you want to stop overthinking then writing your thoughts can help you a lot.

By doing this simple thing you can empty your mind. It is a scientifically proven technique used by most people I also use this technique when I see that I am Overthinking.

 Sometimes our reason for overthinking can be another person's words. If someone  Insults you or say bad to you then the best thing to do is to forgive them because thinking about taking revenge will waste your time and energy. Before going to sleep always forgive others so that you can have a peaceful life.

Meditation is a solution for 5000  problems. Meditation can help you a lot to calm yourself. It will help you to bring back your mind in control. One should always practise meditation daily.


Think about good things

To win over bad things you'll need good things. If you have negative thoughts then by thinking about positive things you can lower that thought. Negativity leaves when positive thoughts enter the brain.


Take a therapy

Overthinking sometimes is normal but overthinking everything is a sign of disorder. If you feel that your thought is out of control and it's too hard for you to control it then the best option to deal with it to take help from doctors.
